The Role

As a Nuclear Medicine Specialist Practitioner within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in delivering highly specialised diagnostic and therapeutic services that directly impact patient care across the West of Scotland.

Working within one of the UK’s largest Clinical Physics and Bioengineering services, you will be part of a forward‑thinking, multidisciplinary team using advanced imaging technologies. This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same, offering opportunities to work across multiple hospital sites.


Applicants must be registered on the Register of Clinical Technologists or HCPC.


Post holders will provide out‑of‑hours cover for emergency or delayed patients when necessary.


All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements.


Duration, Location and Working Pattern

* Duration: Permanent
* Base Location: Gartnavel Hospital
* Hours: Full Time (36 Hours)
* Working Pattern: 9 hours per day (within Mon‑Sun 08:00‑20:30)


Key Responsibilities

* Provide high‑quality patient care, ensuring safety, comfort and dignity throughout all stages of investigations and treatments.
* Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals accurately while ensuring compliance with radiation safety regulations.
* Operate and maintain complex imaging and laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and image quality.
* Contribute to quality assurance audit and continuous improvement activities to support clinical governance.
* Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, scientists, nurses and support staff.
* Participate in training, research, and service development initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.


Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job

* Degree in Radiography, Clinical Technology or a related discipline with relevant professional registration or eligibility.
* Demonstrated experience in nuclear medicine or a closely related clinical imaging environment.
* Strong understanding of radiation protection legislation, including IRMER, IRR and associated regulations.
* Proven ability to operate highly specialised imaging equipment and perform complex technical procedures.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to support and reassure patients and work collaboratively with colleagues.
* Ability to work independently and make sound clinical and technical judgements in a fast‑paced environment.
