Job Overview

Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join the Occupational Therapy team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The role focuses on maximizing patient abilities through patient‑centred goals, facilitating a safe discharge, and supporting the transition between hospital and community settings.

Ideal candidates are experienced Occupational Therapy Assistants with the qualifications required for a Band 4 position, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead as a technical instructor.


Main duties of the job

* Assist therapists in delivering high‑standard patient care following treatment plans.
* Support patients during therapy sessions, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
* Demonstrate and supply daily living equipment with clear instructions.
* Assist in assessing patient progress and reporting findings.
* Manage therapeutic and personal diary, stock, and patient records.
* Collaborate within the MDT, attending meetings.
* Engage in professional development and support new team members.
* Contribute to quality improvement by identifying service development opportunities.


Requirements

* Quality Credit Framework qualification at Level 3 (e.g., A level, NVQ or OCN in Health & Social Care).
* Relevant experience working within a healthcare environment, delivering therapy programmes.
* Understanding of the occupational therapy role.
* Basic knowledge of main conditions relevant to the specialty and effects on function.
* Ability to meet travel requirements of the post.
* Ability to speak Welsh (essential).


Desirable

* Ability to speak Welsh.
* Computing skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data input).


Person specification

Experience

Quality Credit Framework qualification at Level 3; relevant healthcare experience; strong communication and collaboration skills; capacity to lead and develop junior staff.
