Operating within the production team on high value and medium volume products, the key purpose of this role is to ensure that components are prepared, assembled and tested to internal quality standards and within required customer deadlines. In addition the job holder will be involved in general housekeeping and organisation of the workshop area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS
Assembly & Test
· Bench fitting: prepare parts/surfaces & check component parts for quality issues prior to assembly
· Accurate assembly of magnetrons and other sources, using assembly drawings & instructions, in a cleanroom-type environment
· Components assembled and tested to internal quality standards in a timely and efficient manner
· Use testing equipment(leak checking; electrical checking) as part of the quality control procedure to verify accurate assembly
· Works within, and follows, established systems and processes
· Documentation of assemblies and testing
Despatch
· Packages product safely in accordance with transport mode
· Uses appropriate safety labels on packaging
· Follows safety procedures and safe working practices at all times
· Wears personal safety equipment at all appropriate times
· Returns all tools to allocated area following use
· Work area always tidy and organised
Other
· Limited travel may be required to customer/supplier sites (this may mean travel to customer sites overseas)
· Fork Lift Truck operation (full training will be given if required)
· Overhead Crane operation (full training will be given if required)
· Other duties and responsibilities as required
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
Education/training
· Apprenticeship trained/time served mechanical engineer
Skills/Experience
· Previous experience of mechanical fitting or maintenance
· Benchfitting
· Build from engineering drawings
· Operation of testing equipment
· Works within established systems and procedures
· Documentation control/traceability
· Working to deadlines
· Working in a team-focused environment
Personal skills
· Works efficiently and accurately
· Follows procedures and work instructions
· Quality focused
· High level of accuracy & attention to detail
· Organised and tidy work practices

DESIRABLE
Education/Training
* Appropriate Health & Safety Certificates
* GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
Skills/Experience
· Worked within Pharmaceutical, Aeronautical or similar high-tech environment or precision engineering background
· ISO or similar QC environment
· Basic IT skills & use of Microsoft Office packages
· Electro-mechanical understanding
· Experience using water fittings (i.e. Swagelok) and pipe-bending using copper and stainless
Other
· Ability to occasionally travel to supplier/customer sites (UK or overseas) if required

Strong magnets used in the Magnetrons prevent individuals fitted with Pacemakers from the Workshop
