Job Purpose
The role provides the business with the skills to set and operate Manual Lathes and Manual Milling machines in line with the delivery requirements. This includes Jig and Fixture making, ensuring products are produced efficiently, of the right quality, quantity, and cost, and on time.
Key Accountabilities
1. Ensure work is carried out safely, complying with the Company's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
2. Take responsibility for the quality and inspection of your own work, including cleaning and de-burring parts.
3. Support a culture of 5S and safety standards in your work practices.
4. Set up machines following best practices.
5. Work according to priorities set by Production Supervision.
6. Accurately record all production hours via the company's Visual system.
7. Record non-productive hours using the relevant Fault Code in Visual.
8. Operate machines within cycle times and estimated costs as per the works traveller.
9. Conduct in-cycle inspection of parts using micrometres, verniers, and CMM reports; complete Actual Dimensional Report Sheets (ADRS) when required.
10. Collaborate with Production Engineering on designs for Jigs & fixtures as needed.
11. Maintain professional communication with colleagues, chargehands, and supervision.
12. Support the company's apprenticeship program through on-the-job training.
13. Report non-conforming parts immediately, establish root cause, document findings, and inform the Machine Shop Supervisor.
14. Perform any additional duties as directed by the Production Supervisor or Chargehand to meet company and customer objectives.
