We are seeking an experienced NEC4 Project Supervisor to join an Energy from Waste project in Widnes. This is a full-time, fixed-term role (circa 6 months) starting in April. The successful candidate will ensure contractor compliance, manage defects, and monitor site activities to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and programme delivery under NEC4 contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Defect Management
* Identify and inspect defects as works progress, especially those that may later be covered by follow-on works
* Notify the Contractor of defects in accordance with NEC4 Clause 43.1
* Ensure defects are rectified and maintain detailed written and photographic records
* Issue the final Defects Certificate at the appropriate defect date or after correction of all notified defects
Inspections and Testing
* Witness all contractor tests and inspections, including commissioning activities
* Ensure tests are carried out in line with contract requirements without causing unnecessary delays to works or payment obligations
* Monitor materials testing and approve entry of materials into Working Areas only after successful inspection
Compliance Monitoring
* Ensure works comply with the contract scope, standards, regulations, and statutory requirements
* Maintain records of daily weather, site progress, significant deliveries, plant/equipment, and site attendances
* Monitor site housekeeping and general H&S compliance, notifying site management of any non-conformances
Health & Safety and Coordination
* Attend SIMOPS / HAZOPS and other site coordination meetings to align contractor works with client operations
* Monitor corrective actions for any identified safety or quality issues
Records Management
* Keep photographic records and written descriptions demonstrating clear progression of works
* Maintain accurate site logs, including contractor and management team attendance, deliveries, and material inspections
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience as an NEC4 Project Supervisor or equivalent site supervision role
* Strong understanding of NEC4 ECC contracts and the Supervisor’s contractual responsibilities
* Experience in energy, waste, or heavy civil engineering projects preferred
* Competence in defect management, inspections, and contract compliance
* Excellent record-keeping, attention to detail, and communication skills
* Professional qualification (MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB, or equivalent) desirable
* Health & Safety aware with experience monitoring compliance on site
