Logistics Lead Location: Hartlepool | Full-Time | Permanent Jackson Hogg is proud to be supporting a leading manufacturing business in Teesside with the appointment of a Logistics Lead to oversee and develop the shipping function across two key sites. If you’re a proactive logistics professional with strong leadership experience, a passion for continuous improvement, and a sharp eye for compliance and operational efficiency — this is an opportunity to take full ownership of a critical department. About the Role As Logistics Lead, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the shipping department, ensuring efficient outbound logistics, documentation accuracy, and full regulatory compliance — particularly across hazardous goods. You’ll drive performance across both the HPL and TSS sites, build carrier relationships, and work closely with internal teams to ensure an OTIF service. Role & Responsibilities * Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing shipping team with clear KPIs * Ensure legal compliance with all shipping and transportation regulations, including Dangerous Goods by Air, Sea, and Road * Work with internal departments and external carriers to ensure prompt and efficient movement of goods * Drive continuous improvement across shipping processes and systems * Resolve escalated logistics issues and support transformational change initiatives * Maintain accurate documentation and reporting, including dangerous goods tracking * Monitor performance metrics and ensure alignment with business and customer expectations * Support ERP enhancements, process mapping, and training roll-out * Ensure all activities meet health, safety, and environmental standards Desirable Skills & Experience * Proven shipping/logistics experience, ideally within a chemicals or hazardous goods environment * Demonstrable people management experience with a track record of developing teams * Dangerous Goods certified in Air (IATA/ICAO), Sea (IMDG), and Road (ADR) * Experience managing change, improving efficiency, and reducing risk * Strong communication skills and confident working across teams and stakeholders * Highly organised, client-focused, and able to prioritise under pressure * Numerate and literate with excellent attention to detail * Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident using ERP or logistics systems What We’re Looking For * A hands-on leader with a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving ability * A structured, collaborative approach to people and process management * Flexibility, initiative, and the drive to deliver results to tight deadlines This is a fantastic opportunity to lead from the front in a key operational role, working across complex supply chains and high-impact logistics.
