We are currently seeking Data Centre Engineers, Lead Engineers and Supervisors for a new data centre based in Slough
About the Role
As a Data Centre Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and operating electrical and mechanical systems that support 24/7 uptime. This includes HV/LV switchgear, UPS, generators, cooling systems, and other mission-critical equipment. You’ll work in a high-availability environment where safety, reliability, and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC/CRAC/CRAH, chillers, pumps).
2. Carry out HV operations, isolations, and switching in line with site safety rules (AP/SAP responsibilities if appointed).
3. Monitor and respond to alarms using BMS and SCADA systems.
4. Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults quickly to maintain 100% uptime.
5. Maintain accurate logbooks, compliance documentation, and maintenance records.
6. Support incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of site processes.
7. Liaise with specialist contractors and ensure safe working practices at all times.
8. Participate in shift rota or on-call cover as required.
What We’re Looking For
9. Recognised High Voltage qualification (AP/SAP status or formal HV switching training).
10. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
11. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
12. Strong experience within a critical environment, ideally data centres or similar high-availability sites.
13. Solid understanding of UPS, standby generators, LV/HV distribution, and cooling systems.
14. Excellent fault-finding skills and ability to work under pressure.
15. Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety.
