The Role:
We are recruiting a Maintenance & Repairs Officer to join a professional Technical Services team delivering a high-quality, customer-focused repairs and maintenance service. You will play a key role in ensuring homes are safe, compliant, cost-effective and well maintained, working closely with colleagues, contractors, and residents to deliver responsive and planned repairs to a high standard.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver and monitor a responsive repairs service, including pre-, during and post-inspection of works
* Diagnose building defects and identify appropriate, cost-effective repair solutions
* Arrange and supervise works carried out by contractors and in-house teams using Schedule of Rates contracts
* Prepare basic specifications, schedules of work and seek estimates where required
* Authorise payments once works have been completed to the required standard
* Liaise with contractors, colleagues and stakeholders to coordinate works and maximise efficiency
* Carry out estate, void and health & safety inspections, including asbestos monitoring
* Maintain accurate records using computerised repairs and asset management systems
* Support performance monitoring, KPIs and continuous service improvement
* Communicate effectively with residents, managing expectations and delivering excellent customer service
* Participate in out-of-hours standby and emergency planning when required
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong technical knowledge of building construction, repairs, defects and remedies
* Proven experience in a repairs and maintenance or property services environment
* Experience managing contractors, inspections and refurbishment works
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a varied workload under pressure
* Confident IT skills, including repairs ordering systems and Microsoft packages
* A flexible, proactive and collaborative approach to work
* Full clean driving licence and ability to travel for site inspections
Qualifications Required:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English – desirable
* HNC/HND in Building Construction or equivalent NVQ – desirable
* Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
