£25,000 (starting salary DOE)

Hitchin

08.30-17.00 (Monday to Thursday) 08.30-16.00 (Friday) 39 hours per week

23 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)

Annual shutdown during Xmas (Paid)

A great opportunity has become available for a Finance Assistant to join a friendly team in Hitchin. You will be working for a niche manufacturing company that has been providing robust hardware for over 50 years. This position is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who is proactive and eager to support core finance processes from day one.


Main duties:

To support the Finance team in providing relevant, timely, and insightful financial and administrative support. Working closely with the Senior Finance Manager, the successful candidate will handle a broad range of finance duties including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, and Auditing.


Responsibilities:

* Handle day-to-day transactional support within the finance team, ensuring all transactions are processed and up to date, queries from internal and external customers are addressed, and reconciliations are completed.
* Manage Accounts Receivable transactions, including customer receipts, customer queries, and debtor control account reconciliations.
* Oversee bank and cash transactions, ensuring accurate entry and reconciliation across all bank accounts.
* Process Accounts Payable transactions, including invoice preparation, entry, supplier queries, and statement/creditor control account reconciliations.
* Support the production of Monthly Management Accounts and Year-End processes, including assisting with the Annual Audit.
* Assist in the Credit Control process.
* Perform other tasks as requested by the Senior Finance Manager within your capability and training, including general office duties such as filing and archiving.

As a customer-focused organization, all employees are expected to acquire basic product knowledge and take responsibility for providing effective front-line customer support by answering calls and resolving customer queries promptly to build strong relationships.


Skills and Training:


Essential

* A-C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Experience prioritizing work to meet deadlines and working within an office environment
* Strong communication skills across all levels and with stakeholders
* Proficiency in IT, especially email, Word, and Excel
* Solid problem-solving abilities
* Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
* Effective time management and organizational skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Collaborative attitude
* Ability to perform well under pressure
* Self-motivated and proactive within guidelines


Desirable

* Any AAT Level qualification
* Experience working within a finance department, customer service, or manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of financial procedures including credit control, cash management, and double-entry bookkeeping
