Applications are invited for a full time Specialty Doctor post to work within the busy Dermatology Team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting time for the service as it continues to expand and applications are welcomed from enthusiastic clinicians but to part of this.
The post holder will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Director/General Manager and professionally accountable to the 2 Dermatology Consultants and the Clinical lead for the Specialty.
The post is based at St Luke’s Hospital where the Dermatology service is provided however some duties may be required at the Bradford Royal Infirmary site.
The post holder will be an active participant in clinical governance activity, audit and multi disciplinary management meetings.
Main duties of the job
The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties.
Provide a Dermatology service of the highest quality. This includes programmed activities for:
* Cancer clinics
* Dermatological Surgery
Develop the Dermatology services.
Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings (MDT).
Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ensure that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence-based research and appraisal.
Maintain personal professional development in accordance with the requirements of the Royal College and the General Medical Council.
Participate in annual appraisal.
Work in partnership with colleagues in the Dermatology Department.
Work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital’s agreed planned activity for Dermatology out-patient services.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols.
Ensure that new techniques (outside ethically approved research projects) are only introduced after appropriate training, with approval of the relevant clinical directorates and with arrangements for evaluation and an audit trail.

* Previous experience relevant to the specialty
* Clinical governance / audit experience
* Out of hours experience relevant to job.
* Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
* Minimum of four years (FTE or equivalent) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent EEA training) of which at least 2 years training must be in the relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training Applicant knowledge is up to date and is fit to practise safely Commitment for managing professional development
* Practical skills in relation to the speciality
* Proven ability to work in different clinical settings
* Organisation and planning
* English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: - that applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or - have achieved the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application – Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7. IELTS certificate to be presented at interview. If applicants believe they have adequate communication skills but do not fit into one of these examples they must provide supporting evidence
* Relevant specialty clinical knowledge
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
* evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
