Description The UKEU Publishing Ads Business Development Manager will lead and help to define our Books Advertising strategy with Books Advertisers in the UK and Europe. You will collaborate closely with Books Retail teams in a strategic role focused on scaling advertising solutions for book publishers and indie authors across UK/European locales. Key job responsibilities - Strategic Leadership & Publisher Relations - The Ads BDM will serve as primary team leader and escalation point for publishers. Because of their proximity and responsibility to EU Books Retail teams, this role will support GGS Account Executives (AEs) covering EU Books Accounts as they navigate retail, ads policy and product challenges on Publisher accounts. Additionally, the BDM will bridge communication between EU and US based teams, ensuring seamless alignment and collaboration across markets. - Goals and Tracking mechanisms - The BDM will define and track vendor-level entitlement and yearly goals, creating a set of input goals at vendor level across the onboarding funnel. Working in partnership with EU/US Books finance, they will track outputs (GMS penetration and Ads revenue). The BDM will own regular tracking progress and updates on how Books Ad revenue is progressing toward respective country level OP2 targets in EUUK. Additionally, they will help establish new WBR/QBR processes with internal partner teams (Books Retail/Kindle Direct Publishing) similar to those currently in place between US Retail/US Ad Sales AEs. - Go-to-Market Strategy - The role involves educating EU/UK based VMs/AVS teams on the types of ads available for publishers in their respective locales and driving adoption of key programs such as the Advertiser Accelerator Program (90-day onboarding program for advertisers new to Sponsored Ads). The BDM will develop a comprehensive program wiki and training materials, including (i) pitch decks, (ii) ways-of-working, (iii) pre-built strategies and (iv) legal guardrails. - Agents and Authors Strategy and US Best Practices - The BDM will help launch net new ads scaled education pitch workstreams, including an EU based Literary Agents Ads 101 and EU based version of a "Getting Started on Ads" pitch for KDP Authors, adapting successful US programs for the European market. - Ads Products Parity - The BDM will work to provide feedback on where there parity gaps between US and EU Books Ads products. They will work with tech teams to define a development roadmap and model opportunity size for new releases. A day in the life In your role, you will be a conduit, facilitating coordination between Ad Sales, Books Retail, and Books Ad Product teams. This can include but will not be limited to: - Creating and owning tracking mechanisms like WBR/MBR/QBRs between partner teams - Contributing to strategic long-term planning - Supporting sales efforts by joining customer meetings to assist in pitch-to-close motion. - Removing internal blockers to ad revenue (includes ad policy/product/retail blockers) About the team The GGS Publishing Ads Sales team is a mission driven verticalized sales team focused exclusively on supporting Books Advertisers. This includes a diverse mix of advertisers from our largest global publishers to Indie Author SMBs who are just getting started using our ad products. Basic Qualifications - Experience in a professional field or military - Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals - Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software - Experience with business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business - Experience in developing, negotiating and executing business agreements Preferred Qualifications - Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units - Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps - Experience selling and managing Digital Advertising and Marketing solutions Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
