This is a great opportunity to support a major programme of fire safety improvements across City of York Council homes.
The role is based at Hazel Court, York, and all travel is limited to York only.
You will support the delivery of our Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) Action Programme and wider building safety work. The programme runs through to 2027–28 and this post has been created to provide additional technical capacity during this period.
Although the role is fixed‑term until February 2028, there is a realistic possibility it may become permanent depending on future service needs.
The role includes carrying out and reviewing fire risk assessments, supporting fire safety projects, and giving practical advice to internal teams, contractors and partners. You will contribute to statutory fire safety compliance, quality assurance checks, evidence management and programme delivery. The work is split between office‑based tasks at Hazel Court and site visits across York.
You will work closely with Building Services, Housing, and a range of technical specialists. You should be comfortable managing your own workload, working in different environments, and communicating clearly with staff, residents and contractors.
