About the Role We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced GIS Specialist to join our team to work on projects in Ireland and internationally. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, analysing, and visualising geospatial data to support the planning, design, and delivery of engineering and environmental projects. This includes the preparation of spatial analyses, mapping outputs, and interactive GIS applications that enhance decision-making and project delivery. Key Duties and Responsibilities Manage, maintain, and analyse geospatial data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant standards and project requirements. Develop and manage ArcGIS Online content, including layers, dashboards, and mapping applications to support project teams. Produce high-quality cartographic outputs, mapping products, and spatial data visualisations for reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagement. Perform spatial data analysis and support multi-criteria evaluations, environmental assessments, and site selection processes. Prepare and maintain metadata in accordance with INSPIRE and ISO19139 standards. Undertake data quality assurance, validation, and topology checks, ensuring data integrity and adherence to client specifications. Collaborate with engineers, planners, and environmental scientists to integrate GIS tools into project workflows. Support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), and feasibility studies through spatial analysis and mapping. Prepare geospatial data packages and technical deliverables for submission to clients and regulatory authorities. Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, map series, and automated mapping workflows to enhance project efficiency. Provide technical input on GIS methodologies, coordinate systems, and data management practices. Contribute to the development of geospatial procedures, standards, and best practices across the company. Support the integration of GIS with AutoCAD, BIM, and other design tools to ensure alignment across disciplines. Participate in internal training and continuous professional development to stay abreast of emerging GIS technologies and tools. Assist in the mentoring of junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing across the GIS and wider engineering teams. Key Requirements Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s in GIS advantageous). Minimum of 2–5 years’ professional experience in GIS, ideally within engineering, environmental, or infrastructure sectors. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS essential. Experience in managing ArcGIS Online content, user permissions, and data sharing. Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and spatial reference management. Experience with data quality control and metadata creation in accordance with ISO19157 and INSPIRE standards. Familiarity with public sector geospatial datasets in Ireland and the UK. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or BIM integration advantageous. Experience producing mapping for Environmental Impact Assessments and other planning deliverables desirable. Basic scripting skills (Python, SQL) desirable but not essential. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Strong organisational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within deadlines. Proactive approach to learning and professional development. Flexibility to travel to project sites and offices as required.
