Offer description

Overview

As an actuarial graduate, no two days in the office are the same. Our graduates work on a range of client teams with colleagues who provide advice and support to either the trustees handling the pension scheme, or the company that provides it. Our aim is for you to progress into a trusted advisor for your clients as soon as possible. We’ll help you do this by developing both your technical and consulting skills - including your understanding of key calculations, communication techniques, project management and networking. Throughout your career with Aon, you'll continually improve your commercial awareness and professionalism - which will help you grow into a successful actuarial consultant.

What your day could look like

Actuarial and analytical tasks, such as:

* Regular assessment of the financial position of pension schemes
* Identifying and implementing ways for trustees and companies to reduce the risks in relation to their schemes, including longevity risks, investment risks and inflation risk

Qualifications

* To have or be on track to achieve a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a maths, actuarial science, or other highly numerical degree
* Have achieved an A-grade or above in Maths A-level, A-grade in Maths Scottish higher or international equivalent
* To have or are looking to build practical skills in Python, SQL, VBA, or cloud platforms
* Our graduates are on permanent contracts from day one. We welcome applications from candidates who have their own right to work within the UK and can maintain and demonstrate their right to work throughout the duration of employment. This may include pre-settled or settled status from the EU Settlement Scheme, or if you have applied and are waiting for a decision.

What are we looking for?

* Motivation and ambition to pursue an actuarial career
* Ability to articulate why you want to be an actuary
* Passion and curiosity; a desire to understand what we do and to learn more
* Commercial awareness to provide support and advice to clients with clarity and confidence
* Strong communication skills, particularly the ability to present complex ideas using data analysis in a simpler, more understandable way
* A self-starter who can take the initiative, work independently when needed but also collaborate in a team

Development and Career Progression

As an Aon Graduate, you will be enrolled onto our Launch Programme with three core elements: business learning, on-the-job experiences, and centralised learning. You will also be expected to complete a professional qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, with paid study leave and study materials provided. After the graduate programme, you will continue to receive technical and business skills training and performance feedback as you progress from Graduate Analyst to Associate Consultant, then to Consultant and beyond. You may specialise in advising trustee clients or corporate pension scheme sponsors, and can join specialist teams such as Risk Settlement, Member Options, or Aon's Demographic Horizons team. The aim is to develop you into a trusted advisor with the tools to build an exciting career at Aon.

Next Steps

If you are interested in this graduate programme, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support learning, development and progression. After this period, you may work more flexibly with a mix of office and client work. We support a diverse, agile and inclusive environment, with wellbeing and work-life balance benefits.
