Overview
An exciting opportunity to work as a therapy assistant within the Wirral Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT). We are a multi-disciplinary team who serve adults aged 18 and over who have a learning disability. The role is community based and you will be visiting service users in their own homes and other community settings.
Role and duties
You will work under the guidance of specialist physiotherapists and occupational therapists, through joint visits and/or lone working to provide person-centred assessments and interventions to promote health and wellbeing. Effective communication and a compassionate approach are essential for this role. The role includes working closely with our multi-disciplinary team to ensure we achieve best care for service users and their families/carers.
* To triage referrals and complete initial therapy assessments to inform prioritisation.
* Carrying out observations for complex assessments and feeding back to the lead therapist.
* Independently carry out treatment activities/programmes at the request of a therapist.
* Collecting, delivering and demonstrating use of specialist equipment.
* Delivery of treatment through group work, alongside qualified practitioners.
* Support with delivery of specialist training within CWP and to external agencies.
* Documentation of clinical contact and contribution to reports and care plans.
CLDT is a dynamic team that strives to develop our service in line with national guidance, therefore the duties of this role may change over time.

Induction and start
All new starters will commence in post on one fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme date. P2C offers up to 3 weeks training to support you to meet the induction / initial training requirements of the role.
