Overview

Associate Lecturer in Construction Management. This position is based in Australia and is a teaching and research role within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. The role covers responsibilities of an academic staff member seconded to another role for the duration of the appointment. The successful applicant will undertake high-quality teaching and research in construction management with emphasis on digital technologies, data sciences, and IoT, including BIM, smart infrastructure, and data-driven decision-support. This is a chance to contribute to innovation in sustainable infrastructure, digital construction technologies, and integrated project delivery methods, in a leading research environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career academic seeking to establish a career in academia. The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.


Responsibilities

* Undertake high-quality teaching and research in construction management with emphasis on digital technologies, data sciences, and IoT (e.g., BIM, smart infrastructure, data-driven decision-support).
* Contribute to a culture of innovation in sustainable infrastructure and integrated project delivery methods.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the School and broader Faculty to deliver excellent teaching and research outcomes.
* Engage with students, design and deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, and support independent learning through meaningful assessment and constructive feedback.
* Provide service to the School, participate in professional development related to teaching practice, and contribute to health and safety obligations.
* Undertake responsibilities consistent with an early-career academic role, without direct reports, and under the supervision of the Head of School.


Qualifications and Experience

* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Demonstrated experience in and passion for teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Experience engaging students and fostering independent learning through meaningful assessment and helpful feedback.
* Evidence of professional development in teaching practice and willingness to continue development.
* Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
* Evidence of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity, and ability to work in a team and collaborate across disciplines.
* Strong interpersonal skills and alignment with UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values, including applicable health and safety responsibilities and training.


Details

* Level A, Salary - $113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Full time
* Fixed-term contract – ASAP start until August 2028
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
