This is a senior retail management role that oversees the daily operations of a store, ensuring maximum profit and excellent customer service.


About the Role:

We are looking for a Deputy Manager to work in collaboration with the Store Manager to drive sales growth, lead a team of employees, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

2. Maximise Profit:
3. • Review store performance data weekly to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to drive results.
4. • Focus on delivering great availability and cost controls through effective processes.
5. • Create a culture of sell a £, save a £ to maximise store sales and profit.
6. • Deliver on all agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
7. Engage, Develop & Retain Great People:
8. • Support the Store Manager with Talking Shop and work well with the Talking Shop representative.
9. • Drive team engagement by communicating effectively and showing appreciation and respect for every team member.
10. • Foster an inclusive culture where everyone can be their best at work.
11. • Take a proactive approach to upskilling the team using all available resources, development options, and on-the-job coaching to grow talent and improve capability.
12. • Manage the team effectively using performance processes and continuous conversations.
13. Doing the Right Processes and Doing Them Right:
14. • Ensure a store walk is completed daily to focus on what the customer sees and take relevant action.
15. • Role model a proactive approach to service, both in-store and at the doorstep, always aiming to be the best place to shop.
16. • Ensure all cash handling and security policies and processes are fully implemented in the store.
17. • Deliver the best digital service by implementing all One Best Way processes in the store through the team.
18. • Ensure legal compliance across all areas to minimise any risk to the business.
19. • Implement all health and safety policies and processes fully in the store, keeping teams and customers safe.
20. Leadership:
21. • Lead by example to get the best from the team and provide the best service to customers.
22. • Be approachable and respectful to customers and colleagues.
23. • Work together with enthusiasm and take action to reduce waste.
24. • Show consideration for the business and its people.
25. • Take full responsibility for the store operation, colleagues, and customers in the Store Manager's absence.
26. • Communicate effectively, having regular conversations and listening to understand.
27. • Plan in advance, prioritising key tasks and activities.
28. • Set the pace of the team by being hands-on to deliver a great store.
29. • Solve problems by making the right decisions for the store.
30. • Coach the team by asking the right questions to drive performance and help them be their best.
31. • Delegate tasks at the right time to the right colleagues.
32. • Motivate the team to deliver consistent operational standards.
33. Requirements:
34. Proven experience in a retail management role.
35. Strong leadership and team management skills.
36. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
37. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities.
38. Customer-focused with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
39. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
40. Flexibility to work across different stores.
