Role Purpose
The Dispensing/Assembly Technician is an individual contributor responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of assembled and packed products in line with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The role supports the Operations Master Schedule and acts as a subject‑matter expert (SME) for assembly and packing automation within a regulated manufacturing environment.
The post holder is expected to work in line with the Capabilities and Behaviours outlined in the Dundee Employee Handbook.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Carry out all duties in line with site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and safe working practices.
* Maintain full compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.
* Take accountability for personal workload, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
Manufacturing & Operations
* Accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Packing Batch Records (PBRs), and Kit Layout Forms (KLFs).
* Operate manual, semi‑automated, and fully automated assembly and packing equipment in accordance with training and procedures.
* Perform equipment set‑up and changeover activities prior to packing operations.
* Act as first‑line technical support for assembly automation, carrying out basic troubleshooting before escalation to Engineering.
Quality & Documentation
* Complete quality documentation accurately, in real time, and in compliance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
* Establish, review, and maintain manufacturing documentation including SOPs and Device Master Records (DMRs).
* Participate in periodic reviews of quality documentation and process/equipment validations.
Continuous Improvement
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to processes, documentation, materials, and workplace organisation.
* Record and maintain Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data to support performance analysis.
* Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and investigations.
* Use Six Sigma tools and methodologies (e.g. A3 / DMAIC) to support problem‑solving and improvement activities.
Systems & Data
* Navigate and use Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
* Use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems accurately and understand their impact on cost and efficiency.
* Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and generate trend data as required.
General
* Maintain up‑to‑date training and engage in continuous professional development.
* Carry out additional duties as required by line management or senior leadership.
Essential Requirements
* National 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Experience working in a life sciences or similarly regulated manufacturing environment (IVD experience preferred).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions and documentation.
Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of production process controls and best practices.
* Knowledge of Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
* Familiarity with CAPA, Change Control, Risk Assessment, and FMEA principles.
* Understanding of process validation principles.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Confident communicator with a proactive, improvement‑focused mindset
