Pay and Employment Details

Base pay range:£30,805 to £37,174 per annum.

Appointment type: Full Time, Fixed Term - Ends 31/12/2026.

Location: St John’s Campus.

The Counselling and Mental Health team is pleased to be recruiting a full‑time Counsellor to maintain its excellent service delivery to students experiencing emotional, psychological, or mental health concerns. We are looking for an experienced practitioner with a genuine passion for supporting student mental health. The post holder will have significant post‑qualification experience in a high‑intensity professional setting. The successful candidate will work closely with Mental Health Practitioners and Counsellors in a fast‑moving, integrated team that provides triage, one‑to‑one support, and small group interventions to our student population. We work closely with other professional teams across Student Services and Academic Schools to ensure that students are provided with the best possible experience.

This challenging yet rewarding role contributes to our whole University approach to positive student mental health. You will meet students of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds with both straightforward and complex presentations. This is an opportunity to make a real difference within a vibrant learning community.

Although this is a full‑time position, we would consider a job share.

Please note that if you are not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited – a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).

Please note that this post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post who will require sponsorship to work in the UK.
