Job overview
This is one of several posts to promote the delivery of the well-established acute and gastroenterology service and enhance our patient outcomes. The post can be based at either of our main sites and we have established patterns of cross site working.
These posts will suit enthusiastic resident doctors looking to develop and use their skills in medicine and gain expertise in the subspecialty of Gastroenterology. The post-holder will be part of a EWTD and New Deal compliant 24/7 shift rota in medicine. They will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already well-established service for patients living within the catchment area of the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding areas and will be working under consultant supervision.
The post is offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months as per the conditions.
Main duties of the job
· The successful applicant will be expected to work cross site at Doncaster Royal Infirmary as well as Bassetlaw District General Hospital and will be expected to contribute to the delivery and development of gastroenterology and medical services across Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals.
· The appointee will actively participate in the local educational programme of undergraduate as well as postgraduate training.
· Provision of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services within the Hospital with responsibility for the prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of illness within the Gastroenterology department.
· Close working with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to assist in providing high quality patient care.

Qualifications
* MBchB/MBBS or equivalent
* Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty, or equivalent experience and competencies
* Must have or be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council at time of appointment and continue to hold a License to Practise.
Experience and Achievements
* Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Gastroenterology/ Medicine
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the Speciality and to support the junior medical colleagues and nursing team.
* Competence in procedural skills relevant to the level of the post
* Ability and willingness to learn from colleagues, senior and other sources.
Teaching and Training
* Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of medical students, junior colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
