Overview
Are you an experienced Clinical Psychologist looking to work as an expert witness, alongside your everyday clinical role, or as a way to bring in extra income?
Are you HCPC registered with 12 months of post-qualification experience as a Registered Clinical Psychologist? Do you have an interest in medico-legal work? As an Expert Witness, you will evaluate a number of PI and court-related claims.
Responsibilities
* Assessments are carried out via a standard proforma and a team of expert legal secretaries will write your report, which you must then validate.
* The role includes little admin as the report is purely evaluative.
* The cases are a mixture of medico-legal/personal injury cases and crime-related or immigration cases. As well as assessing patients, you may be involved with cases presenting ASD and ADHD in both adults and children.
* Location: You will carry out assessments at your nearest clinic in your region.
* Hours: Associate expert and zero hours – pick the hours that work for you and sign up to receive regular work based on your expertise and knowledge.
* Salary: £85-£100 per hour – location and experience dependent.
* Experience: You do not need prior experience in the legal medico field; applicants with experience in both child and adult psychology in any setting or capacity will be considered.
* Expenses: Fuel expenditure over a certain mileage.
Terms of business and requirements
* Minimum 1 year of hands-on HCPC registered clinical experience.
* Registered under: Clinical psychologist only.
* Strong understanding of psychological assessment tools.
* Experience in 1-to-1 therapies such as CBT, EMDR or similar cognitive treatments, for children or adults or both.
* Right to work in the UK – all working visas considered.
* Proof of qualifications gained – Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s.
* Indemnity insurance, up to 5 million, including medico-legal.
* ICO certification or willingness to apply for this.
Whilst we do not offer Sponsorship, applicants who have extra hours with their current visa may be eligible to take on additional work as long as you are already sponsored and have a full 12 months post-HCPC registration.
