The Family and Specialist Services Division at Great Western NHS Trust has an exceptional opportunity for a forward-thinking and motivated Matron to join our senior nursing team.
This is a significant leadership role where you will be responsible for diverse clinical areas, providing inspirational leadership and clinical excellence. You will have an impact on a wide variety of services, including Haematology, Oncology and Gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
This role provides key strategic oversight for the Division. The post holder provides innovative clinical and professional leadership to nursing at all levels within the service group, ensuring nursing care is delivered to a high standard and the nursing resource is managed efficiently and effectively. This will be achieved by the post holder supporting nursing managers running the directorate wards and areas. The role will be supportive of nursing leads in these areas in their delivery of safe and compassionate care. The post holder has responsibility that the standards as identified by the Care Quality Commission and other regulatory bodies are maintained, supporting quality improvement projects with the teams and driving the multidisciplinary team to take forward the directorates quality and safety agenda. This post combines clinical expertise, leadership and educational/research skills with managerial and professional responsibilities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Active NMC Registration) at Level 6 (BSc)
* Relevant speciality experience
* Recognised management or leadership qualification or demonstrable experience
* Quality improvement training
* Non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards
Experience
* In depth experience of leading and managing teams of nursing staff across different levels and specialities
* Significant experience of working and influencing in a multi-disciplinary environment with a range of health professionals
* Experience in workforce management, planning and development
* Demonstrable governance experience and exposure
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
* Experience of writing protocols, guidelines, policies, assessing clinical competencies
