An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join the Offender Health Care Group at Swinderby.
The Swinderby Residential Short-Term Holding Facility holds up to 39 adult men for up to 5 days. As part of a small team, you will provide holistic care to a vulnerable group, managing immediate healthcare concerns, continuing prescribed medications, and facilitating safe discharges.
You will also provide information and advice about medication and processes to patients and colleagues where appropriate.
Please note: Applicants will need to pay for their DBS check, deducted from salary after appointment. The cost is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced). We encourage enrollment in the DBS Update Service, which costs £16 annually.
Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support all aspects of medication supply and distribution, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate provision. Responsibilities include ordering medications via electronic prescribing (SystmOne), medication reconciliation for new arrivals, ongoing medication reviews, and safe medication storage.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Offender Health Care Group is a leading provider of prison healthcare in the UK, serving 7 prisons and a short-term holding facility. You will be part of a large team of over 400 healthcare professionals, supporting services within the Personality Disorder Pathway, including Therapeutic Communities, and working in partnership with criminal justice agencies to provide high-quality healthcare.
Candidates should have BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and an up-to-date CPD portfolio. You will support medication management, including medication histories, risk assessments, prescription checks, and emergency medication maintenance.
Please note: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is transitioning offender health services to a new provider. Successful candidates will be informed that employment transfer will occur in due course.

Qualifications & Training

* Experience in core technician roles, stock management, and working in secure environments
