SEND Teacher (Autism Specialist)

Sunderland
Full-time, Long-term
£120–£220 per day (PAYE)

Are you an experienced teacher who loves creating calm, engaging classrooms where every child can thrive?

We’re working with a specialist school in Sunderland that provides high-quality education and support for children and young people with autism and additional learning needs. They’re looking for a dedicated SEND Teacher to join their welcoming, multi-disciplinary team.


What you’ll be doing:

* Teaching small groups of pupils aged 7–19 with autism and communication differences

* Planning creative, differentiated lessons that build confidence and independence

* Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to ensure every pupil’s EHCP needs are met

* Creating a nurturing environment where progress is measured in smiles as well as steps


What we’re looking for:

* QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS

* Experience teaching pupils with ASD, SEMH, or complex learning needs

* A flexible, patient, and positive approach to teaching and learning

* Confidence using visual supports, sensory regulation strategies, or TEACCH-style approaches

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
