About our operations division:
We are involved in the repair and refit of Royal Naval and Commercial vessels. You will become part of our multiskilled team working in modern facilities with state-of-the-art equipment. Most work will be completed onboard ships, with additional fabrication work in various workshops within the dockyard.
Work approach:
Our flexible working approach allows for adaptable hours depending on your role and location, including accruing hours and flexible start and finish times to balance work and personal life.
Key responsibilities:
1. Ensure safe systems of work are followed.
2. Read and interpret mechanical and pipe drawings.
3. Fabricate pipes from 8mm to 323mm using various materials.
4. Wire and set components on boards.
5. Braze using silver and soft solder to class 1 standards.
6. Test pipework after manufacture.
7. Install pipework into systems.
Skills and experience required:
1. Knowledge of pipework systems, materials, connectors, adaptors, couplings, and fastenings, with the ability to braze to required standards.
2. Understanding of domestic ship plumbing, including removal and installation.
3. Welding skills (TIG, MMA) are beneficial but not essential; experience with composite pipework is also advantageous.
