Overview
Join to apply for the Treatment Operator role at s1jobs.
What you’ll do
You’ll be joining an experienced and highly motivated team that monitors and maintains the quality of water from source to distribution across West Dumbartonshire at our Water Treatment Works. You’ll operate plants using our TOMS procedures, calibrate monitors, maintain clarifiers and filters, adjust tank levels and more. You’ll maintain records on water quality and plant equipment performance, and you’ll become familiar with water quality parameters such as pH, chlorine, aluminium, phosphate, and their associated dosing and control systems. You’ll participate in regular inspections of plants, reservoirs and dams, carry out risk assessments, and follow health and safety protocols. You’ll take your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours cover.
What you’ll bring
We’ll get you fully up to speed on the technical aspects of the job. You’ll bring strong communication skills, confidence working on your own, and comfort with new computer systems. Attention to detail is essential, with a focus on accurate recordings and safe operations. An eye for spotting trends and solving problems is helpful. A valid driving licence is required. Nice-to-haves: knowledge of water treatment processes and distribution systems, and mechanical maintenance experience, but these are not essential.
