The Role
Are you ready to take the next step in your care career within a truly unique setting? St James Care is looking for a Senior Shift Leader to join our dedicated leadership team. We are a registered care home that offers a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for individuals living with long-term alcohol-related conditions, dementia, and mental health challenges.
In this key role, you will work alongside the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, and Team Leaders to lead shifts with confidence, compassion, and professionalism. You'll be a role model for best practice, helping to shape a positive and person-centred culture across the team.

The Ideal Candidate
As Senior Shift Leader, you'll play a key role in ensuring that day-to-day care is delivered safely, effectively, and in line with CQC regulations. You'll also work closely with external agencies to help maintain the highest standards of care.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Manager, you will line-manage a team of staff, supporting them to reach their full potential through mentoring, guidance, and active involvement in ongoing staff development.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to demonstrate:
* Experience managing staff in a care environment
* A strong track record of providing care to vulnerable individuals
* A commitment to continuous quality improvement and team development
The role is worked on a rota basis, shared with the wider leadership team, and includes:
* One weekend in three
* Some late shifts
* Participation in an out-of-hours on-call telephone support rota (additional payment provided)
A Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification is essential. You should also be willing to work towards a Level 4 or Team Leader qualification as part of your ongoing professional development.
