Role: Accounts Assistant Location: Irlam (Greater Manchester) Job Type: 6 Month FTC Salary: Up to £35,000 Hours: 37.5 hours per week Role Purpose We have an exciting opportunity for an analytically minded Accounts Assistant to join a high performing finance team within a nationally recognised recruitment business, ranked as one of the UK's Best Big Companies™ to work for and widely recognised for its commitment to Learning and Development. This role will focus on margin and performance reporting, supporting accurate weekly analysis and ensuring financial integrity across contractor data. This position is well suited to an AAT studier or early career finance professional who enjoys analysis, problem solving and working with large data sets. Key Responsibilities Produce and maintain weekly margin reports across the contractor population Analyse pay and charge data to ensure accuracy of reported margins Compare actual contractor margins against expected performance and flag variances Investigate discrepancies, providing clear analysis and meaningful commentary Review and analyse contractor pay rates and charge rates Process financial adjustments and support payment corrections where required Implement approved changes to reporting and financial data Support ongoing weekly reporting requirements during organisational change Manage manual invoicing for a defined portfolio of non-automated clients Match invoicing data accurately to underlying contractor and client information Assist with management accounts reporting and related analysis Work collaboratively with finance and operational teams to resolve data issues Support continuous improvement of reporting processes and controls What We Are Looking For Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or finance analyst style role Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail Confident working with large volumes of data Good Excel skills and ability to manipulate data effectively Commercial awareness and interest in margin analysis Proactive approach with strong problem-solving capability Comfortable working in a fast-paced recruitment or services environment (desirable) Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial variances clearly Organised with the ability to manage weekly reporting deadlines *Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial telephone interview.
