Overview
Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager or Facilities Manager looking for a new challenge in Birmingham? We’re recruiting for a hands‑on Maintenance Manager to lead a team of six engineers at a prestigious college campus. This role offers a great opportunity to take ownership of a large, well‑maintained site with excellent facilities, managing all aspects of building maintenance, compliance, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a team of six maintenance engineers and technicians across electrical, mechanical, and building fabric disciplines.
* Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance (PPM & reactive) to ensure the site operates efficiently and safely.
* Lead on statutory compliance, including electrical testing, emergency lighting, fire systems, HVAC, water hygiene, and health & safety checks.
* Manage external contractors, ensuring high‑quality delivery and best value for money.
* Control maintenance budgets, procurement of parts, and life cycle planning.
* Support small project works, refurbishments, and sustainability initiatives.
* Ensure all work is carried out in line with H&S legislation and company procedures.
* Act as the key contact for maintenance and facilities issues on site.
Requirements
* Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, or Building Services Manager.
* Strong technical background – mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled trade qualified (City & Guilds / NVQ / HNC).
* Experience managing teams, contractors, and PPM schedules.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Knowledge of CAFM systems and compliance reporting.
