Lorien is partnering with a well-established UK organisation delivering audio visual solutions across customer-facing environments and event spaces. They are expanding their design capability and are looking for an AV Design Engineer to help ensure systems are specified clearly, costed accurately and delivered right-first-time.
Whilst the team are keen to find a candidate with some relevant experience in this domain, they are also open to considering a more junior AV professional who is ready to step up into a design-focused role, provided you have the right fundamentals.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of commercial, technical and operational delivery. You will translate requirements into practical, buildable AV designs: producing drawings, documentation and technical input to support bids, proposals and project delivery.
What you'll be doing
* Producing AV system designs including drawings, schematics and supporting documentation suitable for delivery teams and stakeholders.
* Creating and maintaining accurate technical packs including equipment lists and pricing/estimation inputs to support pre-sales and project delivery.
* Collaborating with internal teams (e.g., business development, technical support, operations and procurement) to ensure designs are achievable, scalable and cost-effective.
* Providing technical input during tenders, feasibility reviews and project handovers, ensuring clarity on scope, assumptions and constraints.
* Maintaining consistency in documentation standards and contributing to continuous improvement as the business grows.
* Keeping up to date with relevant AV and adjacent IT technologies, particularly where integration and reliability matter.
What we're looking for
* Experience in AV design, AV engineering, technical pre-sales or a similar solutions/design function (or a junior background with clear progression toward design).
* Confidence producing design documentation using AutoCAD and 3D modelling software (e.g., SketchUp or similar).
* Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to documentation.
* Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* A practical, delivery-aware mindset—designing solutions that work in real environments, not just on paper.
* Collaborative approach and a professional, customer-focused attitude.
What's on offer
* Competitive salary (negotiable depending on experience).
* Hybrid working and a flexible approach to hours.
* Training and development support, with scope to grow your design capability.
* Bonus potential and a wider benefits package (details shared during the process).
