Closing Date: 17 November 2025 The Role This is an exciting opportunity to join an inspiring education development team in a world class University as we implement our new Education for Life Strategy. We are looking for creative, people-centred colleagues who will lead on or manage a variety of education development initiatives within the Education Strategy implementation. The post is based in LTDS’s Digital Education Projects Team. Your day-to-day work will be in project teams aligned to the implementation of the Leading Edge Curriculum, a major element of our Education for Life Strategy. Working in a friendly team-based environment, you will collaborate with staff and students to support the delivery and enhancement, of a high-quality student learning experience. Key Accountabilities Supporting academic units to deliver a high-quality student learning experience through engagement in innovative teaching, learning and assessment strategies and approaches Making a major contribution to the development, approval and implementation of institutional strategy, policy, and practice in relation to digital education and educational development Managing a portfolio of quality enhancement and educational development activities and projects at institutional, faculty, academic unit, and programme levels, in line with university strategies and the LTDS Strategic Plan Working in partnership with academic and professional services to develop and disseminate innovative and effective approaches to learning and teaching Designing and delivering a range of staff development as part of LTDS’s Learning and Teaching Development Programme Managing and supporting the work of steering groups and user groups relating to digital education, and other educational development projects Writing and presenting reports and papers and making presentations to a variety of audiences (internal and external) to promote, influence and support the development of a high-quality learning, teaching and student experience at Newcastle Evaluating, and researching into, innovative and effective education practice (including but not limited to digital education) Managing internal/external projects to support delivery of University and LTDS objectives Any other duties, consistent with the post’s grade, as requested by senior colleagues The Person Knowledge, Skills and Experience An up-to-date knowledge of policy and practice relating to learning and teaching in higher education In depth knowledge and experience of the appropriate use of digital technologies, and resources for learning in higher education Knowledge of accessibility and usability issues relating to digital education Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, to solve problems and use own initiative effectively, and to work in a flexible and responsive way Ability to work effectively within a team Ability to establish, maintain and communicate within relevant internal and external networks of contacts across a wide range of partnerships Experience of managing projects and using appropriate tools and techniques to deliver these on time and on budget Research skills, including the ability to analyse complex data and experience of applying research techniques in practice Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write detailed evidence-based reports and to deliver effective staff development workshops and presentations Ability to become proficient quickly in using new software packages Significant experience of training and developing others, and of producing user documentation Attributes and Behaviour Gathering Information Liaises effectively with stakeholders, colleagues, and customers Looks for opportunities and impacts arising from external developments Communicating Encourages and supports a free flow of communication and information across own area Tailors communication to the audience, changing style, tone, and format accordingly Team-working Operates effectively in a number of teams and groups Planning and Organising Effective at organising and managing heavy and complex workload Sets own priorities in conjunction with team and area objectives Finding Solutions Encourages creative and innovative thinking in self and others.
