Food Technician – Secondary School, Enfield

Contract Type: Term time only (36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year)

About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Food Technician to join our friendly and creative Design & Technology department at our secondary school in Enfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, supporting students, and maintaining a safe, well-organised learning environment.
You’ll play a key role in preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen equipment, and supporting staff and students during lessons — ensuring that all activities meet the school’s high standards for health, safety, and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, set up, and clear away ingredients and equipment for Food Technology lessons
* Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions
* Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety practices at all times
* Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage storage of materials
* Keep work areas clean, organised, and compliant with school procedures
* Support the wider D&T department as required
What We’re Looking For
* A practical, well-organised individual with excellent attention to detail
* Experience in a school, catering, or food preparation environment (desirable)
* A Health & Safety and/or Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above) – essential
* Awareness of COSHH and safe food handling procedures
* A positive, proactive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
* Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment
