The role
As a Service Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Play a pivotal role supporting the Submarine Delivery Agency in delivering and sustaining the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet—one of the UK’s most complex and vital defence programmes.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage end-to-end IT service delivery and supplier performance, ensuring SLA/KPI compliance, effective stakeholder communication, incident resolution, and seamless transition of changes into live environments.
1. Manage IT service and contract performance, ensuring compliance with SLAs, KPIs, and licensing terms
2. Maintain strong relationships with third-party providers and internal stakeholders to support delivery
3. Oversee incident and service request handling, including escalation management
4. Provide clear, timely reporting on service performance, incidents, and operational changes
5. Lead smooth transitions of application and service updates into production with minimal disruption
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Service Manager
6. Experienced IT Service Management and Service Delivery professional with a strong operational track record
7. Well-versed in ITIL, ISO, and ISO frameworks for service excellence
8. Skilled in planning, managing, and developing innovative IT service offerings
9. Exceptional written and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences
10. Deep understanding of software support processes and procedures across complex environments
Qualifications for the Service Manager
11. ITIL foundation or greater
12. Prince 2 Practitioner
