Job Description Services Welfare Officer - Salary of £24,355 per annum which increases to £26,651 following probation. Based at one of the military bases within the UK (relocating to a new site every two years) Want to make a real difference to the lives of service personnel? Join our team as a Services Welfare Officer (SWO) and provide confidential, independent welfare support in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Hours: 36 per week over 6 days per week, this includes evening and weekend working Location: Based at one of the military bases within the UK (relocating to a new site every two years). Why join us? A role that truly makes a difference to the lives of service personnel Opportunities to travel and experience life in unique locations Comprehensive training and ongoing support Free one-person Officers mess accommodation provided Subsidised food and drink Initially based on site in the UK with the opportunity to be considered to work abroad at a later stage Job Requirements This is what we're looking for: Essential: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with young adults Ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently Willingness to relocate and live in military accommodation away from home for extended periods Full UK driving licence and UK passport Desirable: Relevant experience (e.g., youth work, social work, teaching) Experience networking with agencies Knowledge of the military environment although not essential Job Responsibilities This is what you'll be doing: Provide impartial welfare support to service personnel and make referrals to the Chain of Command or appropriate agencies when needed. Ensure the smooth running of Services Welfare Centres, maintaining high standards in operations, activities, and health & safety. Offer insight into morale by compiling monthly statistics and supporting the Chain of Command. Build strong relationships with welfare agencies and attend welfare meetings. Represent Services Welfare at formal functions, exhibitions, and events. Occasionally deliver induction presentations and attend training courses. Work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours support.
