The Transformation Director is a strategic leader responsible for driving and overseeing the successful delivery of the transformation agenda across the Wesleyan Group.
It is a critical role that is fundamental in driving the long-term success of the organisation, challenging and supporting the Executive team through complex transformation journeys.
The role is required to drive strategic outcomes across multiple dimensions, managing complex problems, build change muscle across the organisation, manage diverse senior stakeholders and to role model our aspirational transformational and leadership behaviours
Day to day the role has oversight and leadership for the Enterprise Transformation Office, Business Architecture and all Change delivery capabilities.
About the role’s main responsibilities and key activities
Accountable for shaping, prioritising and driving the delivery of the Transformation roadmap and its associated benefits.
Lead and support the Executive team in shaping the annual portfolio planning process. This includes key stakeholder and strategic partner engagement to drive the right investment decisionsto generate a strategically aligned portfolio with a sequenced roadmap.
Oversee the management of the strategic investment portfolio (BAU portfolio and wider strategic programmes). Ensuring content remains healthy (in terms of ROI), secure (in terms of risk management), effectively resourced, managed and controlled (including dependencies and finances). Defining, maintaining, and managing the required portfolio & project level governance & control frameworks; in line with industry best practice.
Resource, oversee and direct the successful delivery of Wesleyan projects in line with best practice (including management of any third-party resource provider(s)). Leveraging and embedding learning to drive the continuous improvement/uplifting of our change delivery capabilities.
Provide oversight of Wesleyan strategic change partner(s), chairing regular contractual governance and performance review meetings and acting as a principle point of contact.
Define best practice/quality standards to adhere to in the delivery of change. Provide change expertise and oversight to drive the successful delivery of change
Work collaboratively with Execs, Sponsors, Workstream Leads and other stakeholders (where needed) to achieve Transformation deliverables, appropriately challenging where progress is not aligned to target outcomes; collaborate to remediate activities moving off track back in line with targets.
Lead specific strategic initiatives and largescale transformation programmes for the Wesleyan Group.
Maintain a robust control framework such that the full scope of activity is understood, can effectively be tracked, key risks, issues and assumptions are surfaced and effectively managed,
Responsible for the leadership and management of the team, ensuring staff are trained and developed to achieve their objectives while providing a high-quality service to their customers in line with society policy and behaviours.
About the context of the role
This role reports into the Group COO and will be a member of the COO Leadership Team, the Transformation Committee and the role holder will also attend Group Executive Committee and Board as required
The transformational agenda is pivotal for the success of the Wesleyan representing the strategic investment that will underpin the bottom-line results required to maintain the viability of the organisation
The role is highly complex, and the successful candidate must be able to operate as a leader at the highest level, engage, challenge and support senior (C level) sponsors and stakeholders, and work with minimal guidance, direction and oversight.The successful candidate must be a confident self-starter with the ability to create structure from the inception of key initiatives
Stakeholder management across the Exec and appropriate committees and Board forums
Responsible for a Portfolio change budget in the region of £15m on an annual basis flexing for one off large strategic programmes funded from the Estate
About the role’s required skills and behaviour requirements
Senior business leader with prior experience of managing a Transformation function of similar scale/complexity
Experience of leading complex and high risk, high value projects.
Management of multi-project programmes from inception to conclusion and project realisation
Experience of leading organisation- wide transformation programmes
Able to plan and manage external dependencies and multiple project dependencies.
Able to manage consultants and other professional firms to optimise delivery and minimise exposure.
Strong commercial drive, business acumen and sound technical knowledge.
Excellent communication, prioritisation, collaboration and negotiating skills.
Solid approach/understanding to the delivery and tracking of project benefits.
Relationship building at all levels up to and including Board level and external stakeholders.
A track record of delivery of quality product within agreed budget and timescale.
Ability to think strategically and communicate confidently, asserting influence at all levels.
Drive and flexibility to undertake a wide range of activities simultaneously
