Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous, enthusiastic and dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team at Mansfield Sand - Two Oaks Quarry. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the operations team ensuring quality control, sample gradings, supporting with design mixes and working to maintain the companies 9001 accreditation. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, adherence to the quarried high standards, and the ability to operate laboratory information management systems effectively.
Duties
* Conduct soil grading and sand gradings according to established protocols. Tests include: sieve analysis (grading), clay content, moisture content, pH, organic content, water permeability, fibre content.
* Perform quality control checks on samples and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
* Maintain and operate laboratory information management systems for data entry and analysis.
* Inspect stockpiles and bagged product stocks for signs of contamination and other non-conformities.
* Assist in the analysis of results, documenting findings, and preparing reports.
* Ensure that the quarry operations are supported and advised of the test results
* Maintain a good rapport with the site management team and to prevent product contamination.
* Environmental testing for noise/dust to ensure we comply with the relevant authority.
* Identify non-conformities in products/production processes, and plan corrective actions.
* Internal and personal noise/dust monitoring to ensure that the workplace exposure limits are not exceeded.
Skills
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data onto excel and access.
* Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
* Familiarity with laboratory information management systems is advantageous.
* Solid understanding of quality control processes in a laboratory setting.
* Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable and ideally from a quarry process background.
* Knowledge of ISO9001 and how to maintain the companies accreditation
* Strong communication skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
* To ensure that the requirements of the Company H&S policy/wearing of ppe etc, are carried out.
