The Position:
The Clinical Administration team member will contribute to delivering a high‑quality, efficient, and cost‑effective administrative service. The role supports clinical services by ensuring accurate processing of information, effective coordination of administrative activities, and a responsive service to patients, service users and clinical staff.
The Candidate:
Educated to a general standard through formal qualifications (e.g. Standard Grades/National 5s) or equivalent experience, the candidate will have previous experience in data input or general office duties. They will demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills, strong organisational ability and a high level of attention to detail.
The candidate will be willing to undertake on‑the‑job training, including developing competence in hospital electronic systems and the Medical Records Management System. They will also be required to complete all statutory and mandatory training in line with organisational requirements.
Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration:
This post will be based at The Balfour.
The successful candidate will work 21.89 hours per week on a part‑time basis. Working days and hours can be arranged flexibly across weekdays, Monday to Friday.
This post is Fixed Term until 31/12/2026 due to service requirement; an extension may be granted on formal approval.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the United Kingdom for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.
Benefits and Salary:
The salary for this post is Band 2 and if residing on Orkney, you’ll also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,719 pro rata per annum, adding extra value to your rewarding career with us.
