About the role

The Governors of Ysgol Bro Teifi are keen to appoint a person who will be responsible for opening and closing the campus on weekends when the school’s facilities are hired out to external users. During the working day the appointed person will be responsible for the maintenance of the school’s grounds as well as undertaking the internal maintenance of the building under direction.

Duties will include:

1. Carry out daily maintenance checks on relevant vehicles and equipment and report defects to the Line Manager.
2. Undertake grass cutting on campus over the summer months.
3. Completing various horticultural work, for example maintaining the hedges and scrub borders.
4. Maintenance of the school’s multi-weather (astro) playing field.
5. Show initiative by responding to the requirements of the work and ensure that this is completed as efficiently as possible and within an agreed timescale.
6. Ability to undertake the required physical activities to complete the duties; which includes, lifting, digging, stretching / bending. Also able to work outside in bad weather.
7. Being a key holder to the school, opening and closing the school at weekends for external users.
8. Undertake maintenance tasks within the building for example, painting, moving furniture.
9. Undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the scale of the job.
10. In the absence of the Site Manager, opening and closing the school as required together with responding to emergency calls occasionally.

The ability to work through the medium of Welsh is advantageous for the job.
