Overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Clerical Officer to join the Breast Imaging team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). The Breast Imaging department is split over two sites, with the breast cancer symptomatic pathway based at NNUH and the Breast Screening department based at Norwich Community Hospital (NCH).
We are a progressive department that aims to be at the forefront of breast imaging developments. The unit embraces a four-tier structure with Assistant Practitioners, Specialist Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners and Consultant Radiographers as valued team members.
The Breast Imaging Clerical Officer provides essential administrative support to the Breast Screening and Symptomatic Breast Imaging services. The role ensures accurate and timely coordination of patient appointments, management of call/recall processes, tracking of 2WW referrals, and maintenance of patient records across national systems such as NBSS, Soliton, and hospital PAS. The postholder acts as a key point of contact for patients, clinicians and external stakeholders, supporting smooth clinic flow, maintaining data quality, and enabling the service to meet statutory screening standards and cancer pathway targets. The role is critical to delivering a safe, efficient, and patient-focused breast imaging service.
The post-holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive clerical support to the Breast Imaging. The admin office is large in capacity and accommodates 4 desks each with a PC and phone and is in close proximity to the manager’s office.
We are looking to recruit a conscientious, self-motivated, and passionate individual preferably with experience of working in the NHS.
Main Duties Of The Role Include
* Schedule and manage breast imaging appointments, ensuring timely patient flow and compliance with national standards.
* Maintain accurate patient records and update national and local systems (NBSS, Soliton, PAS, ICE).
* Track urgent referrals and call/recall activity to support safe, effective service delivery.
* Provide administrative support to clinical teams, including preparation for clinics and MDT meetings.
* Produce reports and assist with audits to ensure quality, compliance, and performance monitoring.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s PRIDE values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.
