A well-established and forward-thinking secondary school in Barnet is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join its leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and knowledgeable professional to lead and develop the school’s SEND provision and ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed.
The successful candidate will play a key strategic role within the school, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, parents, and external agencies to deliver high-quality support for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

* Position: SENCO (Secondary)
* Location: Barnet, North London
* Salary: Leadership Scale – Outer London (dependent on experience)
* Start Date: September 2026 or sooner if available
* Contract: Permanent
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or equivalent qualification
* Proven experience working within secondary school SEND provision
* Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
* Experience leading interventions and supporting staff with inclusive teaching strategies
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
* Identify, assess and support students with special educational needs and disabilities
* Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure inclusive practice across departments
* Manage and support the SEND team including teaching assistants and support staff
* Liaise with parents, external agencies, and local authorities to ensure effective support plans
* Monitor student progress and ensure high-quality intervention strategies are implemented
* Deliver staff training to support inclusive classroom practice
