We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the child’s learning, emotional wellbeing and inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.
The school's objective is to cultivate 'resilience in learning and life'. This, primary goal, is a thread that is woven into teaching, learning and wider curriculum. We offer a holistic pedagogy, which empowers our learners in their academic, cultural, emotional and social development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
2. Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
3. Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs/EHCP targets)
4. Support the child’s social, emotional and behavioural development
5. Encourage independence and positive engagement in learning
6. Monitor and record progress, feeding back to teachers and SEN staff
7. Ensure the child’s safety and wellbeing at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will:
8. Be patient, nurturing and resilient
9. Have experience working with children with SEND (desirable but not essential)
10. Have a good understanding of inclusion and child development
11. Be able to build positive, trusting relationships with children and adults
12. Work effectively as part of a team
13. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
