About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Home Manager. Reporting to the Registered Home Manager, the Deputy Manager will be responsible for assisting the Home Manager to deliver high quality care of our residents. Our Deputy Managers monitor the performance of staff, ensuring additional training and support is provided where necessary and ensure that good relationships are built and maintained with residents, families and members of the team.

In the Home Manager\'s absence, they take responsibility for leading the team and running the home. Whether you\'re helping a member of the team to develop their performance, administering prescribed medicines or preparing reports and care plans, you\'ll always have resident wellbeing in mind above anything else.

We are looking for someone with previous experience of deputising/leading a team within a Care Home. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have positive energy and the ability to get along with people.


Key Responsibilities

* Take responsibility for the running of the home in the absence of the registered manager.
* Assist the registered manager in producing and maintaining systems and procedures for auditing and assuring quality care provided by the home.
* Maintain account ledgers, cash books and documentation as required in law.
* Receive, log and monitor all monies received from residents, relatives and staff.
* Support the registered manager in duties to ensure the home complies with all health and safety requirements, including fire safety regulations and procedures.
* Assist in the selection and recruitment of staff and assist in the preparation of duty rotas as needed.
* Promote a culture of equality and diversity among residents, staff and visitors.
* Participate in staff training and development to ensure that Job Description requirements can be adequately fulfilled.
* Ensure staff motivation, flexibility and appropriate skill mix through effective organisation and leadership.
* Conduct staff meetings and communicate minutes to all staff.
* Assist in staff supervision and appraisal sessions at specified intervals.
* Ensure each resident is assessed for need and has a formally developed Care Plan, involving the resident and family where required; provide appropriate individual care in line with Care Plans.
* Ensure care plans are monitored and reviewed at regular intervals.
* Supervise catering to meet Food Hygiene standards; assist in planning menus and accommodate special dietary requirements.
* Ensure duties of reporting staff are performed to required standards and contribute to a happy, efficient and homely atmosphere.
* Manage drugs and medicines in line with procedures and maintain records.
* Participate in developing social activities for residents.
* Assist the Manager in handling complaints from residents, relatives or staff as appropriate.
* Stay informed of new health and safety, COSHH, fire prevention and local authority regulations; communicate changes to staff and amend policies as needed.
* Maintain standards for appearance and upkeep of premises and manage planned maintenance programs as required.
* Ensure confidentiality of residents\' finances, health and personal matters, and of employees’ company information.
