Pre Assessment is a vital part of our nursing care as it assesses suitability for general anaesthetic and/or sedation as well as understanding any pre-existing health conditions you may have to ensure your surgery can be completed safely. As a Healthcare Assistant in our Pre Assessment department, you will work closely with our nurses who will perform pre-operative assessments, involving taking a full medical/nursing and social history. Routine observations will be then be recorded and will include: Blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height and weight. An electrocardiogram (ECG) may also be required. You will have excellent people skills. And if you’re qualified to NVQ Level 2 or 3, with relevant experience in an acute hospital or care setting, that’s even better.
As a Pre-Assessment Health Care Assistant, you will:

* Fully understand and support the needs of each patient and their family
* Offer comfort and reassurance, providing the highest standards of care
* Build your experience across new practices, equipment and facilities
* Work with practitioners in other areas, understanding that continuity in patient care is key
* Be ECG trained and phlebotomy trained
