The Role
This is a hands‑on position where you'll be involved across the full machining process, not just loading parts.
Responsibilities
- Programming, setting and operating 5‑axis milling machines
- Working from detailed engineering drawings and CAD data
- Producing complex components to tight tolerances
- Inspecting your own work to ensure it meets spec
- Carrying out finishing work where required
- Identifying and resolving issues on the shop floor
- Keeping machines in good condition and running efficiently
- Supporting less experienced team members where needed
Qualifications
- Solid experience in CNC machining and programming
- Strong background in 5‑axis milling
- Experience with Heidenhain controls would be ideal
- Comfortable using CAM software
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings (including GD&T)
- Used to working in precision engineering environments
- Someone who genuinely cares about quality and takes ownership of their work
Work and Challenges
The company manufactures complex components for prototype development and production. The work is varied, often challenging, and typically involves tight tolerances and high‑spec materials. If you prefer simple, repetitive machining this role may not be the right fit, but if you enjoy problem‑solving and technical work it will be.
