Train Crew Operations Manager

We have an exciting opportunity within the resources team at Avanti West Coast as Traincrew Operations Manager.

In this role, you will lead our Traincrew Resourcing Team to deliver a reliable timetable and ensure our services are fully and efficiently staffed. When disruption strikes, through your knowledge and coaching you will enable the team to redeploy crews swiftly, communicating clearly, and getting trains back on track with minimal impact.

You will be our Subject Matter Expert on traincrew resourcing, partnering with Train Planning and Control teams to shape solutions that keep the operations smooth. You will play a key role in trade union engagement, building strong relationships and incorporating feedback into our processes.

key accountabilities of the role are:

* To Lead and inspire the Resources Operations Team Leaders and team, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with senior leaders to develop innovative communication strategies for train crews during disruption.
* Ensure staffing levels meet business needs while complying with safety standards, legislation, and company policies.
* Work closely with the Train Planning team to anticipate and manage the impact of timetable changes, engineering works, and major events.

We are looking for:

* A proven leader with experience managing teams in a complex, unionised environment.
* Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills demonstrating your ability to build trust and influence effectively
* Ability to make decisions based on factual information and numerical analysis.
* coaching mindset and a deep understanding of railway operations.
* Strong operational knowledge
