Recruiting Non-Executive Directors – Volunteer
Join buddi Creatives CIC as a non‑executive director to guide strategy, strengthen governance, and support our mission to reduce loneliness through creative, community‑based initiatives and public connection projects.
What difference will you make?
The appointment of a non‑executive director will play a critical role in strengthening the governance, stability, and long‑term sustainability of buddi Creatives CIC. As a growing community‑interest organisation focused on reducing loneliness and supporting emotional wellbeing through creative and public‑connection initiatives, the oversight and strategic input of a non‑executive director will ensure that we continue to expand responsibly, transparently, and in line with our social purpose.
A non‑executive director brings an independent perspective that complements the work of the executive team. This external viewpoint supports balanced decision‑making, encourages healthy challenge, and helps the organisation stay aligned with best practice in governance, finance, and risk management. With multiple active projects—including buddi benches across the UK, café‑based chat initiatives, community events, and a suite of creative wellbeing resources—independent scrutiny and strategic insight are essential for managing growth while ensuring quality and safety.
This role will also contribute significantly to our ability to scale. By providing guidance on strategic planning, partnership development, and operational priorities, the non‑executive director will help us consolidate our vision and build the organisational infrastructure required to serve more communities. Their expertise can strengthen our approach to impact measurement, funding diversification, and long‑term sustainability, helping us secure the resources needed to expand our public presence.
Additionally, the non‑executive director will support us in navigating regulatory responsibilities specific to a Community Interest Company. Their oversight of compliance, reporting, and stakeholder accountability will reinforce public trust and confidence in our work. This role also contributes to our responsibility to ensure that all decision‑making is aligned with our community benefit and that our projects continue to provide safe, effective, and meaningful opportunities for human connection.
Finally, the non‑executive director will act as a supportive, steadying influence for the executive team. They provide mentorship, constructive challenge, and clarity during key decisions, helping us maintain a clear focus on our mission offering creative responses to human distress and reducing loneliness through accessible, compassionate community initiatives.
In summary, this role strengthens governance, supports scale, safeguards our mission, and helps ensure that buddi Creatives CIC grows with integrity, accountability, and lasting impact.
