Job Purpose
Due to continued success and exciting growth within our business, we’re expanding our maintenance division to support new client contracts across the UK. As a result, we’re recruiting a Refrigeration Engineer nationwide to join our high‑performing teams and help us deliver exceptional service on a local scale. You will be the first line in all service and maintenance throughout your allocated sites and will effectively maintain and repair refrigeration equipment in customer locations, providing assistance to HVAC equipment containing refrigeration circuits.
Key Accountabilities
* Prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
* Identify non‑repairable faults promptly and advise the line manager with recommendations regarding suitable replacements.
* Ensure PPM schedules are completed within agreed timescales and that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to the laid‑down procedures.
* Ensure that all technical and compliance paperwork is always completed and up to date.
* Participate on an out of hours standby rota; arrange and communicate any cover required due to holidays or unforeseen circumstances to the line manager.
* Be aware of regulations and codes of practice applicable to the tasks.
* Order and fit parts or components as prescribed by company procedures.
* Notify the company helpdesk of procedural task conditions upon cessation of works.
* Advise the GSMs of any repair, maintenance and installation issues that could affect the smooth running of the store and build rapport with all GSMs.
* Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary.
* Carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the refrigeration supervisor/RFM.
* Complete all work to the highest standards in an efficient and cost‑effective manner, whilst complying with the laid‑down company Health and Safety policy.
* Carry out all tasks within the allotted time period to the satisfaction of the company and client.
* Maintain proficiency in written and verbal communication, report writing and recording procedures.
* Attend training courses as necessary and ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.
* Ensure all mandatory Evolve online training modules are completed.
* Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the company’s Health and Safety Policy at all times.
* Work with company and ASDA colleagues to maintain quality standards.
* Represent the company professionally at all times and develop good working relationships with City and ASDA colleagues.
* Comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the City Management Team.

* Represent the company professionally and develop strong working relationships with engineers, supervisors, operations managers and the head of department.
* Work collaboratively with other engineers within the region/cell.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Suitable Maths & English qualification.
* Time Served Apprenticeship.
* NVQ/C&G Refrigeration‑based qualification.
* Approved Training Program.
* Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate.
* Skill Card.
* Proficiency in refrigeration, electrical, air conditioning and mechanical systems.
* Ability to read drawings.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation and applicable codes of practice.
* Equipment diagnostic and repair skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Team integration.
* Customer perception.
* Self‑motivation and professionalism.
* Ability to work at heights and competent in the use of access equipment.
* Current full driving licence essential.
* Availability for out‑of‑hours working.
