Database Administrator (PostgreSQL / Oracle / MongoDB) Location: Manchester (2 days per week onsite) Duration: 10 Months Rate: £400pd inside IR35 Role Overview We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to join a large-scale technology environment, supporting and managing enterprise-level database platforms. This role will involve hands-on database administration across both RDBMS and NoSQL technologies, alongside leadership responsibilities within an Oracle-focused team. You will work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders to ensure database performance, security, availability, and scalability across critical systems. Key Responsibilities Provide hands-on database administration across PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB Manage and support an Oracle DBA team Design, maintain, and optimise database structures to ensure performance and reliability Ensure databases are kept up to date, secure, and well maintained Troubleshoot database issues and support database design and development activities Design and implement database maintenance procedures Manage database access, security, integrity, and backup processes Liaise with developers, operational teams, and IT project managers Implement and maintain security measures and data protection controls Primary Skills & Experience Strong hands-on experience in Database Administration Expertise in PostgreSQL, with additional experience in Oracle and MongoDB Deep understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL data stores Experience working with complex data structures including JSON and XML Background in distributed data processing technologies Proven experience in database troubleshooting, optimisation, and performance tuning Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and database security best practices Secondary / Desirable Skills Experience writing technical documentation, reports, and operating manuals Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and data archiving/housekeeping Familiarity with Cloud platforms and serverless architectures Understanding of software design patterns and their practical application Exposure to Kafka (advantageous) Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments Ability to mentor junior team members Experience supporting live production environments
