An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and capable colleague to join our Highways Operations Team as a Highways Gully Site Team Leader based at Tadman Street, Wakefield.
What will be expected from me?
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking as part of a team, or as an individual predominantly involved in driving a Gully Tanker for the cleaning and removal of gully detritus/blockages including drainage investigations in a coordinated, timely and efficient way to reduce the impact of flooding/standing water and ice forming on the network during winter months.
You will ensure value for money and sustainability within Wakefield Metropolitan District Council highway network.
What I might be doing?
1. Responsible for arranging work schedules, running lists including identified drainage priorities in an efficient and effective manner that ensures Value for Money.
2. Direct supervision of the Gully Operative including conducting appraisals.
3. Often required to train operatives (train the trainer) who are able to cover in the absence of the Gully Team Leader and Gully Operative, also supervise novices until competent.
4. Train and supervise apprentices from time to time.
5. Completion of all works within the requirements of the Highways Gully Strategy.
6. Works completed in an effective manner that minimises disruption to all road users within the District.
7. Completion of all works within the required timescales.
8. Work is caried out safety.
9. Work is carried out to specification.
Essential requirements:
10. Large Goods Vehicle Class 1 (Class CE) or Class 2 (Class C)
11. Certificate of competence on the use of specialist equipment (including fitments) such as High Pressure Jetter, Penny Lifter, Boom Lift and hydraulic lifter.
12. City and Guilds -New Roads and Street Works Act - Operative (NRASWA)
13. LANTRA Awards Traffic Management: 12 D Rural and Urban Roads T1/T2 Static Works – once in role

14. This is a full-Time post of 37 hours per week.
