Operations Manager, Up to £60k, West Yorkshire
Are you a hands-on operations leader with a passion for driving performance and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment?
My Client, a well established, growing business, is looking for a dedicated Operations Manager to lead their production operations and contribute to the ongoing growth and excellence. This is a new role to help support the Operations Director who was promoted from Operations Manager last year.
As the Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the manufacturing operations — overseeing daily production, ensuring safety, driving efficiency, and leading a high-performing team.
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll play a key role in aligning operations with business goals and delivering exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operations.
* Maximise production efficiency and machine utilisation while reducing downtime and waste.
* Manage budgets and control costs without compromising output or quality.
* Lead and mentor production teams, setting clear expectations and holding people accountable.
* Collaborate with the Quality Manager to uphold product standards and a zero-defect culture.
* Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives using data and innovation.
* Solve problems proactively and implement contingency plans where necessary.
* Create a positive, high-performance culture through communication, recognition, and leadership.
* Support strategic business growth through capacity planning and new product integration.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in an operational management role within manufacturing in a UK Packaging business (preferably in a Cardboard Packaging manufacturing business in the UK)
* Strong leadership and team management skills — able to inspire, coach, and hold teams to account.
* Deep understanding of lean manufacturing, process improvement, and operational KPIs.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels.
* A proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage complex operational challenges.
* Results-driven, hands-on leader who thrives on the production floor.
